چکیده

Abstract. Soil evaporation concerns water and our life support sources, which are important for agriculture or climate change prediction science. A simple instrument based on the nonsteady-state (NSS) technique soil measurement appears suitable. However, because NSS chamber is highly invasive, special care should be provided to correct wind speed influence process. a complex process that involves many air characteristics. Measurement installation its head deployment may perturb these We therefore had minimize differences measurements. Most of between bare with deployed can minimized, except influences not reproducible inside head. Meanwhile, as depend numerous variables monitorable in real time, self-calibrating corresponding protocol called Autocalibrated Evapo-respiration Chamber (ASERC) was developed make measurements easily corrigible unique variable (wind speed, WS), regardless composition, texture, other meteorological variables. followed by this allows us determine susceptibility (Z) achieving 0.95 coefficient determination. Some interesting findings sandy clayey measured during laboratory calibration “slow” sensor simulation will also reported two appendices.

Diffusion-based Soil Respiration Chamber Measurements

This application note contains general information about soil respiration and discusses some issues worth considering while conducting measurements with soil respiration chambers. Some basic hints and guidelines on how to use a GMP343 in a soilrespiration chamber for CO2 flux measurements in the surface-atmosphere boundary layer are also given. The primary mechanism for transport of CO2 from th...

Automated Monitoring of Soil Respiration: an Improved Automatic Chamber System

We designed, constructed and tested an automated chamber system for continuously monitoring soil respiration. Our objective was to design a system that would permit monitoring of CO2 efflux rates over long time periods without altering microclimate inside the chamber. The measuring principle is based on the measurement of the increase in CO2 concentration within an automated chamber in a fixed ...

Groundwater influences on soil moisture and surface evaporation

Soil hydrological processes play an important role in land-atmosphere system. In most climate models, these processes are described by soil moisture variations in the first 2 m of soil resulting from precipitation, evaporation, and transpiration. Groundwater effects on soil moisture variations and surface evaporation are either neglected or not explicitly treated. Although groundwater may have ...

A Respiration Chamber for Cattle

Traditional methods for measurement of gas exchange in domestic animals utilize the open-circuit principle in which a known flow of air is drawn past the animal and its change in composition is measured; or the closed-circuit principle in which. carbon dioxide is absorbed and weighed and oxygen is metered into the system. The open-circuit chamber has an exact counterpart in a mask method and th...

Estimating Evaporation Coefficient during Two-stage Evaporation from Soil Surfaces

Evaporation coefficient (KE) is defined as the ratio of actual evaporation over potential evaporation under the same atmospheric conditions. The use of KE provides an alternative means for evaluating soil moisture status and quantifying soil evaporation by reducing in situ measurements. However, little effort has been made to evaluate the estimation of KE over soil surfaces. In this study, a re...
